who we are

Rwanda Medical Clinical Officers’ Organization (RMCOO) is national non-profit making NGO operating under operation certificate number 960/RGB/NGO/OC/10/2021 granted by Rwanda Governance Board (RGB) in obedience with the law of Rwanda. RMCOO was founded in 2016 by Clinical Officer program graduates from the University of Rwanda to provide advocacy and protection of their profession. Clinical Officers are accelerated medically trained clinicians that are licensed to practice medicine in all regions of the world. Due to the fact that Clinical Officers have continued to show competence through RMCOO, it has been indicated in the RMCOO five-year strategic plan that there will be an extension of activities in the health promotion program from the pandemic awareness and response to neglected tropical diseases, hygiene and sanitation, HIV and other blood borne infections, non-communicable diseases, child and maternal mortality rate, adolescent sexual reproductive health. RMCOO will not only stick to health promotion but also protection, advocacy and capacity building of qualified Clinical Officers as the primary responsibilities. Furthermore, planning and research but more importantly partnership and resource mobilization. The administration of RMCOO remains open to any health related development partner in order to contribute significantly through Clinical Officers in a journey of achieving the universal health coverage in Rwanda.

Our Mission

To promote and deliver primary health care in the Rwandan community aiming to prevent and treat communicable and non- communicable diseases.

To engage efficiently in the execution of the Governmental programs aiming at fighting against malnutrition and disease caused by lack of hygiene and sanitation.

To create a solidarity fund and support the proper functioning of the Organization and meet the needs of education and training of its staff members.

To reduce the maternal and infant mortality rate by providing necessary services such as health education, pre- and post-natal care

To ensure advocacy for the effective members of the organization and justify the usefulness of clinical officers in Rwanda.

To contribute efficiently and improve standards of training, regulation and practice of Clinical Officers in collaboration with other members of Rwandan health system.

To collaborate with other health professionals in different health sectors to provide a better quality of service.

To significantly contribute in promoting the health of Rwandan citizens.

To Create relations with both national and international organizations with a complementary mission.

To reduce significantly the number of patients being transferred from health centers to District hospitals, through early diagnosis, triage and treatment of clinical cases on our level: in minor surgery, in internal medicine, Gynecology/obstetrics, Pediatrics and others.

To prevent premature deaths and possible complications due to diseases treated late, through early diagnosis of patients, while treating them on site or transfer them to advanced hospitals on time.
